Targeting Breast Cancer Using Hyaluronic Acid-Conjugated Liposomes Triggered with Ultrasound

چکیده
The successful targeting of tumors can be achieved by conjugating moieties to nanoparticles. These modifications allow nannocarriers achieve greater specificity through binding specific receptors overexpressed on the surface tumor cells. In this study, pegylated liposomes encapsulating model drug/dye calcein and conjugated hyaluronic acid (HA) molecules were successfully synthesized, their ability target HA a breast cancer cell line was investigated in vitro . Low-frequency ultrasound (LFUS), applied at three different power densities (6.2, 9, 10 mW/cm 2 ) used trigger release entrapped calcein. Both control HAconjugated showed similar profiles. conjugation resulted significant increase uptake MDA-MB-231 known for its CD44 (HA receptor) overexpression, while such an effect not recorded with NIH-3T3, embryonic mouse fibroblast, low levels expression. application LFUS enhancement cells from our liposome compared without exposure ultrasound. findings suggest that combining HA-conjugated is promising drug delivery platform treatment.

The aim of this work was the preparation, characterization, and preliminary evaluation of the targeting ability toward pancreatic adenocarcinoma cells of liposomes containing the gemcitabine lipophilic prodrug [4-(N)-lauroyl-gemcitabine, C12GEM]. Hyaluronic acid (HA) was selected as targeting agent since it is biodegradable, biocompatible, and can be chemically modified and its cell surface rec...

Investigation of potential therapeutics for targeting breast cancer stem cells (BCSCs) is important because these cells are regarded as culprit of breast cancer relapse. Accomplishing this kind of strategy requires a specific drug-delivery system using the distinct features of liposomes. Studies on targeted liposomal delivery systems have indicated the conjugation of hyaluronan (HA), a primary ...

Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) continues to present a challenge in the clinic, as there is still no approved targeted therapy. TNBC is the worst sub-type of breast cancer in terms of prognosis and exhibits a deficiency in estrogen, progesterone, and human epidermal growth factor 2 (HER2) receptors. One possible option for the treatment of TNBC is chemotherapy. The issue with many chemothe...
